The University of Cambridge's Information Services (https://www.uis.cam.ac.uk/careers ) is looking for an AV Infrastructure Engineer to join a cross functional, multi-skilled, and diverse service team in charge of delivering the University of Cambridge Lecture Capture service.

The University's Lecture Capture service is used by more than 20,000 staff and students, currently deployed to more than 120 spaces, and recording more than 20,000 hours a year. Your work will have a significant impact on the reputation of one of the world's leading universities.

You will:

  • Design AV architecture for the University's Lecture Capture service, including integration, based on needs and requirements.
  • Create an AV implementation plan for these designs.
  • Implement, configure, and test AV equipment based on these implementation plans.
  • Monitor and evaluate industry standards and best practices in AV, providing subject matter expertise.
  • Manage, survey, design, install, commission, document, support, and maintain Lecture Capture installations across the University.
  • Be responsible for the support and maintenance of all AV components in all University's Lecture Capture service locations.
  • Configure software supporting AV hardware components.
  • Be the subject matter expert and provide consultation services to large AV projects managed by other University Divisions, to ensure the project's compatibility with the University's Lecture Capture service.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with teaching, administrative, and IT staff across the various Schools, Faculties, Departments, and Colleges of the University.

You will have experience with:

  • Designing and installing integrated modern over the network AV systems (AV switching and distribution, audio processing, video and audio capture, and control system products), such as Dante, Crestron, QSC, Shure, Birddog. Including automation of audio and video capture.
  • QSC and Crestron programming environments.
  • Supporting and troubleshooting both legacy and modern networked AV systems in a large campus in higher education or enterprise environments.
  • Supporting users on a wide range of issues.
  • Developing user documentation and training users on the use of AV systems.
  • Supporting video assisted technology in teaching, such as lecture capture and web video conferencing.
