Grade & Salary: Salary from £48,835 to £65,574 p.a. plus substantial additional benefits: a College housing allowance of £9,850 p.a., an additional discretionary variable allowance of £5,745 p.a. An allowance of £2,846 p.a. payable upon award of Full Professor title.

Applications are invited for the post of Associate Professor (or Professor) of Physical & Theoretical Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry. The successful candidate will also be appointed to a Tutorial Fellowship at Lincoln College under arrangements described in the Job Description and Person Specification. The appointment will be initially for five years at which point, upon completion of a successful review, the post-holder will be eligible for reappointment to the retiring age. 

We wish to appoint a candidate whose research interests are in the general area of Soft Condensed Matter, broadly interpreted and including, but not limited to, the following areas: soft matter chemistry and physics, colloid and interface science, complex fluids and rheology. The successful candidate will hold a doctorate in a field relevant to research in Physical Chemistry, and have a very strong track record, or show outstanding promise, in independent research.  They should be able to demonstrate their research vision and the ability to attract research funding from appropriate sources. They should also provide evidence of the ability to lead a group of researchers at different career stages.  They should be able to demonstrate excellence or the potential for excellence in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels in both the Department and Lincoln College, as well as participating in the administration of the subject and in the wider life of the College.

The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA and Lincoln College, Turl Street, Oxford, OX1 3DR.  

The combined University and College salary will be according to experience on a scale from £48,835- £65,574 p.a. Benefits of the Tutorial Fellowship at Lincoln College include Governing Body membership, a housing allowance of £9,850 per annum, an additional discretionary variable allowance of £5,745 per annum, access to housing loan and health care schemes, a teaching room in college, and full college dining rights. 

An allowance of £2,846 p.a. would be payable upon award of Full Professor title.
