Salary on a scale from £52,815 to £70,918 per annum, increasing annually to the top of the scale, plusa College housing allowance of £20,000 p.a. (or rent-free single accommodation in College, or rent-free house or flat, both with a residence allowance, and subject to availability); a tutorial allowance of £6,000 p.a.; and an allowance of up to £3,800 p.a. for research expenses. An additional allowance of £3,078 would be made upon award of Recognition of Distinction (i.e. the title of Professor).

Merton College and the Faculty of Law at the University of Oxford are recruiting a Tutorial Fellow and Associate Professor of Law, with effect from 1 September 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful candidate will be both an Official Fellow and Tutor in Law at Merton College and a member of the Faculty of Law.

The successful candidate will be expected to engage in advanced study and research in Law, and to give high quality tutorials, seminars, lectures, and supervision at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Applications are particularly sought by the Faculty from those who have research interests and teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: Contract, Commercial Remedies and Comparative Contract Law. For the College, teaching is sought in Contract plus one, or preferably two, of the following subjects: Tort, Land Law, Trusts, Roman Law.

The successful candidate will be a member of both the Faculty and the College communities. They will be part of a lively and intellectually stimulating research community which publishes at the highest international levels, and they will have access to the excellent research facilities that Oxford offers. The person appointed will join one of the largest and most distinguished groups of legal scholars in the world. The appointee will have, or be on the way to establishing, a record of internationally recognised scholarship and research and will be required to provide a high standard of research-led teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including the supervision of research students.
