Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer in Computing Sciences (2 Posts)

Salary on appointment will be £54,421 per annum, with an annual increment up to £63,059 per annum. 

The School of Computing Sciences is looking to appoint two Associate Professors/Senior Lecturers in Computing Science on our Academic Teaching and Research (ATR) pathway. You will be involved in research and innovation, and in the development and delivery of teaching. We are particularly interested in candidates that may be able to contribute to expanding our research and teaching portfolio in our areas of excellence such as Colour and Imaging or in areas of growth such as Artificial Intelligence and Cyber security.

You will be expected to have a strong recent track record of attracting research funding from government or industry in areas linked to Computing Science or related domains and will also have a strong portfolio of recent research publications in prestigious international journals (e.g. IEEE/ACM). It is also desirable that you have an extensive network of national and international collaborators from academia, government and industry.

A PhD (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant subject area with proven experience of high quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and module development relevant to the subject is essential. This includes core computing science topics such as programming, AI and machine learning, cyber security, data science, databases, web-programming and computer architectures. You will have evidence of leadership of course development and the use of a range of both innovative and traditional pedagogical practices. Experience of PhD supervision is essential.

These full-time posts are available on an indefinite basis. There is a start-up fund available to support all new members of CMP ATR staff as standard in their research and the total of £15,000 can be split over two or three financial years.
