Applications are invited for the post of Associate Professor (or Professor) of Organic Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry. The successful candidate will also be appointed to a Tutorial Fellowship at Pembroke College. The appointment will initially be for five years, at which point, upon completion of a successful review, the post-holder will be eligible for reappointment to the retiring age.

About you
We wish to appoint a candidate whose research interests are centred in Chemical Biology, within the wider context of Organic Chemistry. The successful candidate will hold a doctorate in a field relevant to these subjects, and have a very strong track record, or show outstanding promise, in independent research. They should be able to demonstrate their research vision and the ability to attract research funding from appropriate sources. If already in an academic position, they should provide evidence of the ability to lead a group of researchers at different career stages. They should be able to demonstrate excellence (or the potential for excellence) in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, and participate in the administration of the subject and in the wider life of the College.
About the role
The position of Associate Professor is suitable for Early Career Researcher applicants, including those that have not previously held a permanent academic position. The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA and Pembroke College, St Aldate’s, Oxford, OX1 1DW. The combined University and College salary will be according to experience on a scale from £50,300 - £67,541 p.a. Benefits of the Tutorial Fellowship at Pembroke College include Governing Body membership, a housing allowance of £10,000 per annum, a research allowance of £2,300 p.a., access to a housing loan and health care schemes, a teaching room in college, and full college dining rights. An allowance of £2,931 p.a. would be payable upon award of full Professor title.

Only applications received before 12.00 midday on 17th March 2023 can be considered. The interviews are likely to take place in late April/early May, and candidates must be available to travel to Oxford for this period. The anticipated start date is October 2023, or before by mutual agreement.
