The Department of Engineering Science intends to appoint an Associate Professor of Engineering Science (Information Engineering) by 30 September 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful candidate will work at the Department of Engineering Science (Central Oxford) and will be offered a Tutorial Fellowship at New College under arrangements described in the Further Particulars. The combined University and College salary will be on a scale currently from £48,114 to £64,605 p.a. plus additional benefits including access to private health insurance, access to Joint Equity scheme, college housing allowance of £10,135 p.a., Tutorial Fellows' Allowance of £10,407 p.a., and a Fellows' Governing Body Allowance of £3,575 p.a. An allowance of £2,804 p.a. would be payable upon award of Full Professor title.
The appointment will be initially for 5 years at which point, upon completion of a successful review, the postholder will be eligible for reappointment to the retiring age.
This appointment will add further strength to the Department's internationally renowned research in Information Engineering. Applications from candidates with a strong research background in any one or more of sensing, graphics, optimisation, signal processing, robotics, mobile computing, communications, machine learning or sensor networks are welcome. This post is part of the expansion of the Information Engineering faculty in the Department.
Candidates will have a strong research background, including a doctorate, and will be expected to engage in and lead high-quality original research. They will be able to secure external research funding and engage in the management of research projects. This will require the supervision of research students and research assistants. They will lecture undergraduate courses and give six hours of tutorials per week during the 8 weeks of the undergraduate term.
They will have the ability to teach effectively, both at undergraduate and graduate levels, and have excellent interpersonal skills for undertaking tutorial teaching.
