The School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Birmingham wishes to appoint an Associate Professor in Urban and Regional Planning to drive forward our exciting portfolio of work in the fields of spatial planning and sustainable urban development.

We are seeking a motivated and ambitious person to contribute to the continuing development of our Planning research, education and professional engagement activities. We are keen to attract candidates whose work engages with contemporary Planning policy and practice agendas in the UK and internationally. Applicants with research and teaching experience around the interaction of Planning with urban regeneration and renewal, housing development or sustainable place-making agendas would be particularly welcome.

An ability to forge networks in the Planning and built environment sectors and to produce research with impact on practice and policy agendas would be particularly attractive.

This includes School colleagues working on climate change, green infrastructure, and air pollution issues, as well as others in fields such as  Engineering, Environmental and Public Health, and Social Sciences.
