At Edinburgh Napier Business School we are passionate about Marketing. We are looking to appoint an Associate Professor in Marketing to contribute to the leadership of research and learning and teaching activities, become a key member of the Management leadership team, and engage with stakeholder groups both external and internal to Edinburgh Napier University and The Business School. 

The successful candidate will work with the Marketing Group leadership team and about 20 colleagues to shape the future of the Marketing subject area within The Business School. In particular, we would welcome candidates who can demonstrate experience of developing innovative Marketing programmes and have developed close links with industry professionals.

The subject area of Marketing promotes research-informed teaching and a pedagogical approach to our learning, teaching and assessment activities with strong industry links.

Building on cutting-edge marketing knowledge, application-oriented research, and strong links to marketing practice, we are committed to enhancing student employability and creating a world class student experience.  We embrace interdisciplinary collaboration in both teaching and research activities. Our research projects help to tackle relevant and pressing worldly questions in three key areas: 1) society and wellbeing, 2) innovation, digital and technology, and 3) sustainability. The subject area delivers six different programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and runs programmes on-campus, overseas and online.

The role
You will contribute to the ongoing and future strategic development of our Marketing portfolio of programmes and modules. You will have a strong research and teaching profile, with significant experience of innovative and successful programme leadership and development. You will be expected to engage in programme leadership and develop an active and ongoing involvement with industry to enhance our networks and student employability.

The post will also include teaching on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and modules and commercial and online/transnational provision. In addition to leading and contributing to our teaching and research activities, you will be expected to have lead enterprise or “applied” projects, such as knowledge exchange with industry, consultancy services, training or CPD activities.

Drawing on your experience of learning and teaching within the Marketing subject area, you will contribute to the University's objective of growing our academic reputation for research-informed and engaged student learning in the UK, overseas and online. You will have line management responsibilities and guide Marketing colleagues in achieving their career objectives.

Who we are looking for

  • Well-networked across the Marketing discipline, especially in your area of expertise.
  • Evidence of an excellent professional academic and research profile.
  • Evidence of innovative teaching and learning practice and experience.
  • Significant experience in developing high quality teaching/ learning and research projects.

Some travel may be required as part of our transnational education provision.
