Salary
£53348 to £63668 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

This post is part of an exciting joint venture with the Nottingham University Business School, to design and implement a new MSc in Civil Engineering and Management. You will support the design and implementation of the new MSc, working alongside existing and newly appointed colleagues in the Department of Civil Engineering and the Nottingham University Business School. Experience in management within civil engineering is essential.  You will assist in the recruitment of the first intake of students for the 2023-2024 academic year and assist the newly appointed Course Senior Tutor in the tutorial support of those students.  

Candidates with a suitable research track record and a PhD may be appointed to a research and teaching (R&T) role and join one of the Faculty of Engineering’s research groups, contributing to the Faculty’s world leading academic expertise. For candidates without a PhD or without a research track record, but with appropriate industrial/business experience, we would welcome applications for a teaching and curriculum leadership (T&L) role.  


You will be able to carry out academic duties to the highest standard and to evidence how, through your personal experience and background, you will be able to: 


  • Plan and deliver high quality taught modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level in Civil Engineering  
  • Integrate management principles into your teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level 
  • Supervise final year undergraduate & postgraduate students, with a particular emphasis on the supervision of MSc projects in collaboration with the Nottingham University Business School 
  • Conduct your own original research and supervise researchers (R&T appointment only) 
  • Create a bold strategy for your research and show how it will benefit from, and bring benefit to, interaction with your colleagues (R&T appointment only) 

We are looking for an innovative thinker who can evidence: 


  • Enthusiasm for interactive teaching 
  • Expertise in management within the context of civil engineering 
  • A caring and approachable attitude and student-centred approach to support students in the modern University environment  
  • Ability to contribute positively to the collegiate activities of the Department, such as open days and outreach activities   
  • Potential to publish in international journals of the highest quality (R&T appointment only)
