The role
NU London wishes to appoint an Associate or Full Professor in Computer Science. You will be teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students; provide service to the discipline in line with the evolving needs and aspirations of the Faculty and University; and conduct world-leading research in the area.
Appointments will be commensurate with experience and qualifications reflecting a record of demonstrated teaching, service, and research excellence. If you are seeking appointment to Full Professor, you must state this expectation on your application and will be assessed according to University criteria for this rank prior to appointment.
Core duties will include development and provision of innovative and inclusive teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; mentoring students and staff; professional service to the University and the wider Northeastern University network commensurate to career stage; and world-leading, high-impact disciplinary and interdisciplinary research. You will have an opportunity to shape and manage NU London’s degrees in Computer Science and contribute to the University’s curricula on the subject.
Person Specification
To excel in this role, you will have the following skills and experience, or transferable skills.
For Associate Professor:
- PhD completed, or equivalent professional experience, in a relevant area.
- FHEA status, or equivalent, achieved or expected.
- Ability to conduct internationally recognised, high-impact, externally validated research, with an interdisciplinary network of collaborators including non-academic partners. Willingness and capacity to undertake academic leadership tasks, including line management and leadership of strategic projects, as well as continuous professional development for such purposes.
For Full Professor:
- PhD completed, or equivalent professional experience, in a relevant area.
- SFHEA status, or equivalent, achieved or expected.
- Ability to engage and develop working relationships with external partners and with colleagues across diverse disciplines in Northeastern University London and across the Northeastern University global network.
- A significant volume of internationally recognised, high-impact, externally validated research, with an interdisciplinary network of collaborators including non-academic partners, and including PhD supervision.
Salary Comment: For Associate Professor, £56,467 to £75,833 pa, depending on qualifications and experience. For full Professor, competitive salary.
