Associate Lecturer Integrated Foundation Year: Animation

About The Role

We now have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Lecturer in Animation to join the dynamic Integrated Foundation Year (IFY) teaching team.  This role will involve teaching into the Game Art and Animation IFY pathway group and will will help prepare students with the skills and confidence for progression into the BA(Hons) Animation and Game Art degrees. You will be expected to contribute to the teaching of the 2D aspects of Animation, but you may also assist with Stop Motion, Drawing and 3D content.
 
You will be responsible for creating and delivering workshops on the programme and collaborating with the wider IFY teaching team.  Duties are primarily to deliver teaching material as part of our timetabled sessions and to support the students in the various IFY Modules and Workshops. In addition, you might also be expected to support the IFY team in the delivery of wider course content such as educational trips, visiting lecturer talks and workshops and exhibitions.
About You

With a good understanding of the role of Animator, you will have significant experience of implementation in 2D animation software, including digital or traditional drawing/model making.  3D animation experience (Maya, Blender or 3DS Max), will also be considered. 
 
The ideal candidate will possess experience of working on animation projects or similar, including animation workflow and a proven background in industry, with a familiarity with collaboration in animation context. 
 
We are looking to hear from candidates who also have the following skills/experience: 
 
  • First degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent industry experience
  • Experience of teaching within an HE environment
  • Ability to network both within and outside the University with appropriate academic and non academic partners
  • A progressive and dynamic approach to teaching in HE
