London South Bank University are excited to be recruiting for the post of Associate Learning Developer: Academic Practice, and English for Academic Purposes to join their highly skilled Library, Skills and Customer Services (LSCS) department.

This role is part of the Skills for Success team who support teaching requirements across the LSBU Group where you will utilise pedagogical expertise and experience to design and deliver engaging skills workshops, training sessions, teaching materials and resources. You will deliver inclusive and integrated support digitally and in-person, enhancing learning outcomes through strong pedagogical methodologies and delivery methods

With prior experience of supporting Academic Practice and English for Academic Purposes, you will be keen to contribute to the culture of creativity and experimentation within the wider Team, identifying, sharing, introducing, and embracing new approaches to learning and teaching support.

You will be happy to work as part of a team to identify, prepare and deliver required support and monitor and evaluate the team’s impact. You will also be happy to take the lead in specific projects and contribute to cross-team working groups within Library, Skills, and Customer Services (LSCS) championing, highlighting, and investigating specific issues of relevance to the impact of the wider Skills for Success Team across the LSBU Group.

About You:

We are looking to hear from candidates who have the following skills/experience:

  • a first degree in a relevant or related field or evidence of equivalent experience, you will also hold a teaching qualification, HEA accreditation or be able to demonstrate evidence of equivalent experience.
  • experience of teaching or supporting Academic Practice or English for Academic Purposes within an HE/FE environment and a demonstrable understanding of the skills support requirements of HE/FE students across subject areas taught by the LSBU Group
  • experience supporting users to make best use of academic practice resources across a variety of disciplines, you will be able to demonstrate evidence of designing and implementing materials, support initiatives or services to reflect sector and pedagogical best practice and engage user need both digitally and in-person.

Details About The Role:

This is a full-time, permanent position. The basic working week will be 35 hours, worked mainly between 0800 and 1800 but with some evening and weekend work required, and travel to work at sites across the Group. The university currently operates hybrid working, with the opportunity to work 20% remotely subject to operational requirements.

You must also be able to pass a DBS check to be considered.
