The role

We are seeking to appoint an Associate Professor/Professor with a particular interest in Degree Apprenticeships.

The Associate Dean for Taught Students (Degree Apprenticeships) and Director of the Centre for Degree Apprenticeships  plays a key role in supporting the delivery of the university’s mission and objectives for teaching, learning and the student experience, as described in our Education Strategy, specifically with respect to Degree Apprenticeship (DA) provision. The postholder will be a Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor or Professor. Applications are welcome from both E&S and E&R staff; if the appointee is a member if E&R staff, they will be expected to remain research active alongside this role.

A new Centre for Degree Apprenticeships hosted in ESE and with an institutional remit will provide academic leadership for apprenticeship provision across all faculties. The Centre will ensure continued excellence in the quality and efficiency of delivery and build a community of practice to support the ongoing scaling-up of Degree and Higher Apprenticeships at Exeter.

About you

You will:

  • Have managed significant income-generating programmes;
  • Have led and managed the design and development of the overall curricula for Degree and Higher Apprenticeships;
  • Make a significant contribution to the leadership and management of the development of teaching and learning strategies and academic standards for Degree and Higher Apprenticeships;
  • Possess a depth or breadth of specialist knowledge demonstrated by a PhD, or equivalent, of the core knowledge relating to academic area in order to teach and support learning on Degree Apprenticeships modules;
  • Be recognised as an excellent teacher not only within Degree and Higher Apprenticeships but nationally and have worked at a national level to champion selected aspects of disciplinary pedagogy to further education;
  • Be willing to work towards Principle Fellow status of the HEA and to attend formal CPD relating to this.
