The role 

The University of Surrey is seeking to appoint an Associate Professor or Professorial-level academic to take up the post of Associate Dean for Education (ADE) in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences (FHMS). This is a permanent appointment, with the position of ADE offered for an initial period of five years. The ADE role is one of the most critical leadership and management roles in the Faculty. For FHMS, the role covers a large student population undertaking a complex set of programmes. many of which are delivered through partnership working such as with healthcare providers and vet practices.

The successful candidate will support the Faculty in our drive to seek innovative and digital approaches to learning and teaching, including online and blended learning, leading a transformative approach to our programme development in line with the University's education and corporate strategies.  

The successful candidate will have both understanding and vision in relation to learning and teaching contexts and approaches across the fields of health and medical sciences.  To this end, we welcome applications relevant to any academic area of the Faculty, noting that the postholder will move/return to a permanent role within the relevant School at the end of their tenure as ADE. The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences 

With almost 5,500 students, The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences (FHMS) is one of the University of Surrey’s three faculties.   FHMS is home to talented staff and students across its five Schools of Biosciences, Medicine, Health Sciences, Psychology and Veterinary Medicine, whose world-class research, learning and teaching capabilities are enabled and enhanced by focussed, well-resourced facilities.  Its mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of humans and animals and their environments through new knowledge and its application to the design, development and delivery of responsible innovation and impact.
