An Assistant Research Finance Manager is required to join The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. This is a key role in the Research Operations Office team working with the School’s Faculty Epidemiology and Population Health (EHP)
The post is primarily responsible for the financial management of a portfolio of research projects for a wide range of funders. This is a junior management position within the Research Operations function, you will be required to support the Research Finance Manager by supervising the Research Finance Officers and Research Finance Administrators, and monitor the timeliness of financial reporting, as well maintaining a portfolio of your own. This is a busy and varied role that requires the post holder to: prepare financial reports for funders, monitor income from funders, raise supplier invoices, approve high-value financial transactions, give advice and guidance on funders’ terms and conditions (post award), monitor KPI’s and provide an efficient service to budget holders in the Faculty.
The successful candidate will also have responsibility for quality assurance and compliance on matters concerning both their portfolio and the portfolio of their team members and for implementing any changes to systems and processes.
Applicants would ideally have experience of working within a finance role, in a higher education environment, strong Mathematical, IT including strong Excel, and inter-personal skills. The successful candidate will be able to prioritise their workload effectively to meet deadlines, to work independently and to demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Experience with the Agresso financial system is desirable.
The post is full time and permanent. The salary will be on the Professional salary scale 6 in the range £40,011 - £45,437 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
