Both the Centre for Manufacturing and Materials and the award-winning Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (AME) reside within the Institute for Clean Growth and Future Mobility (formerly known as the Institute for Future Transport and Cities).

The Laser Processing and Joining Research Theme Group, within the Centre for Manufacturing and Materials, is seeking to recruit an Assistant Professor to enhance and develop the capabilities of the group. With the opportunity to use a variety of lasers, based in the Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (AME), you will complement the group’s expertise which has already been demonstrated in laser welding, laser drilling and laser surface engineering.

You must demonstrate a clear ability for undertaking leading research in a relevant field, evidenced by a track record of publications and have the ability to work as a team and independently. You will be able to develop plans for future research with good prospects for external funding. The position is research focused however, you will have excellent communication skills and the desire and ability to teach postgraduate and undergraduate courses.

Successful candidates will develop ideas for generating income and seek funding opportunities for applications and routes to disseminate research findings that enhance knowledge, informs teaching and builds the national and international reputation of the University whilst advancing knowledge in the field/discipline.
