The School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health are seeking to recruit enthusiastic and ambitious HCPC registered Occupational Therapist to lead our expansion of contemporary placements. This new post has been developed to work within our highly experienced practice education team to develop new opportunities to diversify placement capacity and learner experiences. We intend to make a commitment that all learners will have the opportunity to take part in one diverse placement within the duration of their course. We are excited to invest in this role to enhance our learners’ experiences in new and emerging practice settings, enable them to grow and develop a strong sense of professional identity in an ever changing landscape of health, social care and the voluntary sector.

The role will include

  • Developing collaborative relationship with new and existing partners to create opportunities for contemporary placements to increase placement capacity
  • Developing and leading quality mechanisms for contemporary placements
  • Developing and leading supervision models and approach to enhance learner experiences on contemporary placements
  • Developing and leading evaluation of contemporary placement experiences for all stakeholders
  • May include visiting practice locations

You will be joining an outstanding team of nearly 40 occupational therapists and we offer a range of courses including BSc, MSc and Integrated Degree Apprenticeships in Coventry and London and will be the first University to deliver a MSc OT apprenticeship (pre-registration) in January 2022.

Our occupational therapy team are one of the largest in the country and work collaboratively with a wide range of health care professions within the Faculty of Health and Life sciences and now benefit from  new, ‘state of the art’ health science simulation facilities, a £60M+ investment. The successful candidate will possess an excellent understanding of their area of practice and be able to demonstrate research and evidence-informed practice within that area. You must be confident in communicating with a range of practice partners and stakeholders to develop network opportunities to support new placement settings. At assistant professor level, applicants should be able to demonstrate a high level of expertise preferably holding a higher degree in an occupational therapy related subject and be registered with the HCPC. Experience of teaching students, either within a HEI or as a clinical educator would be advantageous.

The salary is dependent upon the skills and qualifications of the individual.

The University offers academic and professional development and provides a Post Graduate Certificate Teaching Qualification for Lecturers who do not hold a recognised teaching qualification.
