Salary £36914 to £49553 per annum pro-rata depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

The University of Nottingham is looking to appoint an assistant professor in Medical Sciences for the Foundation to Medicine Programme. Applications are invited for the post of Assistant Professor - based at University Hospitals of Burton and Derby NHS Foundation Trust, Royal Derby Hospital Centre, Derby.

The Foundation for Medicine course (one year of a 6-year programme) has the aim of increasing student diversity in Medicine, the purpose of the course is to bring students to the relevant A-level standard in biology and chemistry needed for studying Medicine at Nottingham as well as stretching them beyond A level to demonstrate the relevance of the subjects to medicine. The Foundation to Medicine course is of considerable strategic importance to the University.

You will need to have excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with clarity on complex and conceptual ideas to those with limited knowledge and understanding as well as to peers, using high level skills and a range of media. You will have extensive experience within your subject/discipline. You will have a track record in the design and delivery of high quality and up-to-date material using a range of delivery techniques and technologies to inspire and engage students.

You will work with Foundation into Medicine course Lead and under the direction of the Director of Undergraduate Studies, to ensure the effective delivery of the year 1 of the Foundation to Medicine programme. You will provide a consistently excellent standard of teaching and support for student learning that is underpinned by scholarship related to the discipline.

You must have a PGCE and degree or equivalent in relevant subject area.

This role is offered on a part time (21.75 hour), permanent basis.
