We are expanding our academic team at the University of Northumbria at Newcastle to continue to provide high quality, research-informed teaching and to accelerate the aspirations of our Maternal, Family and Infant Research theme,  which is led by Professor Mary Steen.  We are seeking candidates with a breadth of experience in the field of Midwifery who have made contributions to one- baby- at- a- time and/or one- publication-at- a -time and now want to make a contribution to more than one student at a time!  

The Department of Nursing, Midwifery and Health is one of five departments within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.  We are a thriving community of academics and support staff who are committed to empowering each other and students to be the best they can be, and ultimately improve the lives of people within our local, national and international reach. We are seeking knowledgeable and skilled individuals, with current NMC registration as a midwife,  and a masters level qualification to join our successful and highly committed team. 

You will work within the vibrant and friendly midwifery team and alongside other academic members within the Faculty. You will be supported to undertake research and contribute to educating the next generation of midwives, and the further continual professional development of midwives and other health professionals. 

The Assistant Professor role will contribute to delivering the Faculty’s strategic priorities,  taking responsibility for the delivery of excellent teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and its integration with high quality research. 

The Lecturer role contributes to an exceptional student experience through the delivery of teaching, research, business and enterprise engagement activity.
