Salary
£37467 to £50296 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

The University of Nottingham seeks applications for three Assistant Professors in the general area of Sustainable Engineering.  This role is offered as research & teaching where the person appointed would lead relevant research programs complementing and expanding existing capability.  

Applications are particularly welcome from candidates with a proven research track record in one of the following areas: 

  • Materials sustainability, including sustainable resources, recycling and remanufacture, life cycle and material flow analysis. 
  • Sustainable Energy systems, including energy generation and storage sector or whole economy transitions to net zero, emerging technologies, policy analysis and future market and technological requirements 
  • Manufacturing sustainability, including techno-economics and life cycle assessment related to manufacture, digital manufacture and emerging technologies, remanufacture and the circular economy, manufacturing metrology. 

The role holder will also take responsibility for delivering high quality teaching and will contribute to the planning, design, development and delivery of materials on our growing undergraduate taught programmes in mechanical, manufacturing and aerospace engineering. Specifically, the successful candidate will be expected to lead teaching in one or more of the following areas: 

  • Sustainable engineering and life cycle analysis 
  • Digital Manufacturing 
  • Thermodynamics and fluid dynamics 
  • Systems Analysis 
  • Metrology

The role will include the development of course curricula and teaching materials as required. 

The post holder may also make a significant contribution to their academic unit via leadership and/or administrative management and/or co-ordination of specific initiatives.

These are permanent, full-time roles of 36.25 hours per week. Arrangements for job share would be considered.
