The Design and Creative Industries Programme (DCI) at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) is seeking a highly qualified person in the field of Photography / Screen Media Production to join our team.

Over the last few years DCI has successfully organised several cultural and creative industries events, such as the Brunei Design Week 2020, six editions of the PRISM Short Film Festival, and the Spectrum DCI Graduation Exhibition, an annual event lead by final year DCI major students.  

FASS invites applications for a new faculty position in Photography / Screen Media Production.  

The successful candidate should hold a PhD in a related area or equivalent and will be expected to actively contribute to teaching, research and/or consultancy in photography and media production as well as other related areas; broker student engagement opportunities; and take responsibility for ensuring media parts of the curriculum remain aligned with industry practice. He/she will be expected to demonstrate broad industry-standard expertise across a range of practice areas photography, film and screen production, scriptwriting. 

Apart from a strong publication record in relevant fields, candidates need to demonstrate a strong portfolio of practice-based creative work and must also possess a background in creative practice or industry.  

Additional anticipated skills and experience include: 

  • Able to generate and develop funding and relationships with industry and the local community;
  • Able to form collaborations and partnerships with other faculties and institutes, such as the sciences and health and business;
  • Able to work collegially and collaboratively with faculty and staff;
  • Able to lead and assist in the development of the media production lab and studio.
