We are seeking to recruit an Assistant Professor in the School of Pharmacy who can demonstrate an emerging international research profile that will complement and expand our existing research and teaching strengths.

You will join the Division of Biomolecular Science & Medicinal Chemistry , based within the School of Pharmacy, ranked 5th in the 2021 QS World Rankings .

We are looking for someone to join our academic team who will:

Enhance the quality of our research activities and publication outputs, attract external grant funding, and promote the impact of that research through knowledge exchange.

Break new ground in pharmaceutical and/or medicinal chemistry, building research collaborations within academia and industry to deliver world-leading research outputs.

Provide an international perspective on how research is conducted and implemented through designing and leading independent research programmes in pharmaceutical and/or medicinal chemistry. The post will involve recruitment supervision and line management of research students and researchers, presenting and interpreting outcomes and findings and engaging outside the University and the scientific community.  

This R&T (research and teaching) post will also involve a strong contribution to delivery of our teaching goals. This includes the development, delivery and assessment of teaching materials (lectures, practicals, case studies, workshops, research project supervision etc), for our MPharm Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences BSc/MSci/MSc undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

All staff in the School have a role in providing pastoral care and support for personal tutees under our tutorial system. The successful candidate may be expected to perform administrative roles as directed by the Head of School including student recruitment interviews, open days and contributions to delivering strategic goals of the School. R&T staff have opportunities for career development through service on School or University management committees and career development training.

Candidates should be willing to contribute to our School ethos by having a positive, collegiate and agile outlook in all aspects of the role, toward the successful achievement of the School strategic goals.

A PhD or equivalent in a subject area related to pharmaceutical and/or medicinal chemistry and relevant post-doctoral research experience in these subject areas is essential.

This is a permanent, full-time role (36.25 hours). Expected start date of appointment: 01/01/2023.
