Over the last decade the School has been through a process of very significant growth, investment and restructuring. As part of this, SGIA has been building ambitious research groups which include International Relations and International Political Economy to complement other groups in Political Theory, and Comparative Politics. Our exciting and vibrant research groups embraces theoretical and methodological pluralism. We are looking for an outstanding new member who can demonstrable the research excellence and ambition appropriate to this grade, who has evidence of a growing set of impact and engagement activities, and whose research clearly speaks to important current research themes and debates within /IR IPE.

The School of Government and International Affairs at Durham University seeks to appoint a talented individual to the role of Assistant Professor in International Relations/ International Political Economy of East Asia.

We welcome applications from those with research and teaching interests in the field of International Relations/ International Political Economy in regional focusing on East Asia, Asia Pacific, and China, which can consolidate and build links with the School's historic research strengths on East Asia, the Middle East. We are also interested in developing strength in research on China's BRI and its broader foreign policy, East Asian economic relations. The successful candidate will contribute to the important work of building collaborative research and teaching bridges between our research group and others in the School.

The post offers an exciting opportunity to make a major contribution to the development of internationally excellent research and teaching in International Relations/International Political Economy of East Asia within the School of Government and International Affairs.
