ABOUT THE ROLE

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will assist the Head of Department to maintain, enhance and improve the Department and Faculty’s national and international reputation in healthcare research and inform teaching and learning activity. Demonstrating your continued academic attainment and achievement, you will contribute to the field of healthcare research and the life and work of the faculty. 

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, therefore, the successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check. 

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Department of Nursing, Midwifery and Health is one of five departments within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. We are a thriving community of academics and professional support staff who are committed to empowering each other and students to be the best they can be, and ultimately improve the lives of people within our local, national, and international reach. The Department is proud to educate health and social care students from all over the world in Foundation, Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Postgraduate Research studies.  We currently have five active research groupings:

  • Health Economics and Applied Statistics
  • Implementation and Innovation research
  • Living Better in Later Life
  • Veterans and military families’ hub
  • Workforce Education and Practice Development

We provide high quality, research-rich education using a variety of innovative teaching and learning methods, including a state-of-the-art clinical skills centre. The post holder will work flexibly with the wider team to contribute to research, teaching, learning, supervision and assessment activity. They will participate in the development, planning, designing and supervision of undergraduate, postgraduate and postgraduate research health programmes, with a particular emphasis on supporting dissertation modules. They will provide expertise to further enhance research and entrepreneurial activities. This will include undertaking individual and collaborative research that demonstrates impact and involvement in external activities, which will include academic enterprise. 

You must possess excellent knowledge of the subject area. The post holder must have a doctoral qualification or equivalent or you should be very close to completing your doctoral studies, with a clear plan for your research. It is anticipated that your research will align to at least one of our research groups. Evidence of high-quality research outputs, which are consistent with the requisite criteria for inclusion in subsequent Research Excellence Framework submissions would be particularly advantageous.
