The Department of Economics, which is one of the four departments of the vibrant Durham University Business School, is currently looking to further boost and complement its existing research strengths and capabilities.

Academic colleagues in the Department of Economics are supported to publish world-leading research in top-5 journals in Economics as well as in highest impact journals in their area of interest, with a focus on quality rather than quantity, together with research capacity enhancement through research income generation. Research is broad ranging and far-reaching and includes economic growth and policy; behavioural economics; quantitative research in financial economics; and environmental and energy economics. It also has strong links with a wide range of businesses and government institutions including the Bank of England, Federal Reserve Bank, UK Trade & Investment, BIS and the UK parliament. The Assistant Professor - Research Fellow in Hydrogen Innovation position is funded jointly by Research England and Durham University to work with industrial partners within the Teesside Industrial Cluster to support the development of Teesside's Hydrogen Economy and Catalyse a Just Transition to Net Zero.
