A full-time Assistant Laboratory Manager post is available for one year from 1st September 2022 to September 30th 2023.

Summary of role

The Assistant Laboratory Manager post is with Technical Services, supporting the MRC Centre for Medical Mycology within the Faculty of Health & Life and Sciences. This post could be taken on a secondment basis for current staff within the University of Exeter. The Medical Mycology Centre’s vision is to facilitate innovative and world leading multidisciplinary research that will substantially advance our understanding of fungal pathogenesis and host immunity, enabling the generation and utilisation of knowledge that will improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of fungal diseases in the future.

The primary role of the Assistant Laboratory Manager is to provide dedicated support to the academics, researchers, undergraduates, and postgraduate students working in the Medical Mycology laboratories of the Geoffrey Pope building. Applicants should have the ability to use own initiative, have willingness to work as part of a team in order to cover other areas of Technical Services as appropriate, be organised and methodical with a good attention to detail, and have willingness to undertake training.

We are looking for an individual with exceptional communication and time management skills, who will provide professional technical support to staff and postgraduate students in a research laboratory environment. You must be able to work independently, using your initiative to tackle any problems, whilst having the confidence to work collaboratively with technical staff in the Medical Mycology Centre plus other teams within Technical Services across the University.
