Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 19 Sep 2022

Are you looking for an opportunity to transform philanthropic giving at a world-class university?

We are seeking an inspirational leader to head up our expanding philanthropy team and drive forward our fundraising efforts for the next decade.

The new Assistant Director–Philanthropy is a crucial role in helping us to increase our philanthropic income significantly into the future. You will work with colleagues across the University to deliver ambitious philanthropic targets and develop lifelong relationships between the University, our alumni and other supporters.

You will lead, inspire and manage a growing team of fundraisers, and support the development of a new philanthropic campaign to support the University’s 2030 Strategy. This strategy uses the power of our education and research to help create a more sustainable, healthier and fairer future. We are reshaping our academic faculties, creating renewed focus in Medicine, Environment, and Humanities and Social Sciences, which is creating exciting opportunities for potential fundraising activities.

A key part of this role will be to develop long-term relationships with philanthropists around the world to secure transformational gifts, including funding for students, research projects and the redevelopment of our campuses.

We are looking for someone with significant personal success in securing six and seven figure philanthropic gifts in HE, voluntary or cultural sectors, or proven transferable skills. You will be a senior leader who has developed and implemented successful fundraising strategies, with the natural ability to inspire. As a sophisticated networker, you will bring exceptional negotiating skills, with a persuasive communication style.

Based across campuses across Devon and Cornwall, the University of Exeter is a member of the prestigious Russell Group of leading research-intensive universities. The University has more than 30,000 students and 6,700 staff from 154 different countries. Our alumni base stretches across 183 countries and we are in touch with more than 155,000 graduates.

This role will require you to work outside normal office hours occasionally, and travel across the UK as required.

If you believe in the power of education, research and philanthropy to transform lives then we would very much like to hear from you.

Closing date for formal applications: By 9:00am, Monday 19 September 2022
