This is an exciting opportunity to join the Planning and Analytics Unit in the Strategic Planning and Governance Division, at the heart of delivering our statutory returns, providing strategic insight and management information at Lancaster University.

We are seeking a motivated individual for the role of Assistant Analyst – Statutory Returns to join our team of experts in the Statutory Returns area. You will assist delivering all student data returns, including co-ordination, collation, submission, and validation of data for statutory reports to HESA, OfS and other external regulatory agencies.

You will play a key role within the team, ensuring each return complies with the governance, assurance and quality review processes, benchmarking, and statutory timescales, supporting the transition to the new Data Futures regime for returns. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality of entry tariff data which constitutes one of the key metrics in the domestic League Tables.

You will be familiar with analysing large datasets and Microsoft Office, including knowledge of managing databases with proficiency in Excel. Experience using Student Record System and familiarity with HESA and OfS requirements is not essential but would be advantageous.

This role provides an opportunity to gain experience and become familiar with the regulatory requirements for higher education institutions, which is a key part of the strategic management of the University.

About you

You will be a good communicator with strong interpersonal skills. You will be able to work well in the team and build solid working relationships within the department and across professional services. You should be able to present information in an accurate and appropriate manner.

When dealing with data, attention to detail is required. You will also need to be adaptable and capable of prioritising your workload to meet competing demands in a timely fashion.

You should contact Jennifer Hutton, Strategic Planner – Statutory Returns, with any questions or for an informal discussion about these roles ([email protected]).
