Assessment Managers (multiple subjects) – Arts, English, Humanities, Languages, Mathematics, Sciences or Social Sciences

Salary: £38,000-£44,000

Location: Cambridge & hybrid working

Contract: Permanent, Full time/ part time

We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.

Here, you can make an incredible impact on our world, you can help to change the lives of millions, give them the vital support they need to unlock their potential, and enable them to succeed. You will be managing some of the most important products we make that directly influence our learners and students around the world and being part of Cambridge means you have a huge reputation behind you.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a current/previous Teacher to take a step away from the classroom, whilst still working in education and pursuing potential around the world.

About the role

We are home to many ex-teachers and educational professionals who have found a career in managing assessment products for qualifications ranging from Cambridge IGCSE and O Level to Cambridge International A Level.

We have four Assessment Manager opportunities available within the Assessment Division for someone with expertise in one or more of the following subject areas – Arts, English, Humanities, Languages, Mathematics, Sciences or Social Sciences.

You will provide multi-skilled and flexible support for colleagues in the Assessment Division as required to assist them in managing syllabuses, including question paper production across a diverse range of subjects. You will be our subject specialists in one or more subjects and will be signing off the exams that our students sit every single series.

From working with development colleagues to manage the design of our syllabuses, you will then manage the lifecycle of a portfolio of syllabuses. You will oversee the production of all assessment materials associated with the syllabuses to ensure their successful delivery for learners. When not creating and signing off exams, you will work on grading, setting the thresholds that our learners are held to.

Working as part of Cambridge University, we work to incredibly high standards. All of our question papers need to be 100% accurate and error free. Every paper has to assess what we say it assesses, and the grade thresholds that you set have to provide a reliable indication for employers and universities around the world of candidates' mastery of the subject. You must make sure the exams are comparable from series-to-series, year-to-year, and are fair to candidates from different countries and backgrounds.

Working with a range of stakeholders, you will definitely have a varied caseload. You will manage the recruitment of our Assessment Specialists, including Setters, Revisers, Vetters and Assistant Examiners. You will manage their allocation of work, performance and succession planning. You will work closely with our ministry customers around the world as you work collaboratively with them to develop and revise our syllabuses.

About you

As one of our subject specialists, we are looking for you to have a degree in your subject, or a very closely related subject. Your standard of English will be very high, and knowledge of assessments in an education setting is very key here. You will have spent some time in the classroom as a Teacher and may even have a knowledge of international education.

Any post-graduate qualifications in educational assessment, project management, or experience in examination would make you incredibly successful in this role.
