Art Shop Supervisor

We are seeking a team member to work 37 hours per week in the Art Shop at our Bower Ashton Studios.  Art Shop trading hours are 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.  In-house training will be provided although retail experience is essential.

You may be required to work over vacation weeks and UWE open days.

Day to day duties of the role include:

  • Providing excellent customer service
  • To be responsible for the day to day running of the shop; including opening, closing and cashing up at the end of each day
  • Utilise and maintain point-of-sale (POS) equipment
  • Engaging with student and staff customers and providing informed advice on full range of stock items
  • Daily housekeeping of the Art Shop retail space and stockroom
  • Dealing with face to face, email, and telephone enquiries in a friendly and approachable manner
  • Processimng online sales received through the UWE online shop
  • To support and promote the continued growth of the Art Shop’s online presence
  • Supervising and coordinating the Art Shop staff team
  • Maintaining good relationships with existing suppliers, identifying new suppliers as required
  • Maintaining stock levels and responding effectively to meet demand throughout the academic year
  • Ordering and procurement of relevant stock using the Agresso purchasing system
  • Checking-off deliveries with accuracy and responding to any discrepancies appropriately
  • Working with a range of colleagues to identify new products and stock lines to meet requirements
  • Ensuring continuous improvement of the Faculty Art Shop offer

About you:

The Art Shop team would particularly welcome applications from Creative Arts graduates, or individuals with equivalent experience in the arts/creative industries sector and have a good knowledge of art materials, equipment and processes.

You are an experienced retail supervisor, with excellent customer service and communication skills.  You can build relationships with suppliers, customers and other stakeholders, ranging from the procurement of supplies, to the processing of sales and can answer customer enquiries in a knowledgeable, approachable and friendly manner.  Ideally, you are familiar with working in a small team and with online retail provision and have the ability to use variety of different in-house computer systems.
