MK:U is an exciting new addition to the Cranfield University educational family; a new model university for Milton Keynes, designed to meet urgent technological and skills gaps. With funding from SEMLEP we are pilot testing four degree apprenticeship courses in Milton Keynes from 2021 and will be developing relationships with local and regional employers who are interested in sending their apprentices to us for training. We have ambitious plans to grow our corporate relationships and our apprenticeship student numbers rapidly, initially based in the central business district of Milton Keynes and eventually moving to our proposed permanent site nearby.

About the Role

This is a new and exciting opportunity to join MK:U’s Education Team which will receive its very first cohort of apprentices in 2021. Reporting to MK:U’s Education Lead, this new role will support apprentices and their employers through four different level six (undergraduate) degree apprenticeship standards; Chartered Manager, Cyber Security Technical Professional, Digital Technology Solutions and Data Scientist.

You will provide individually tailored support for each apprentice and their employer, helping them to demonstrate how their academic learning meets the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by the relevant apprenticeship standards. You will be responsible for coaching and supporting apprentices from a range of business sectors, evaluating progress with the apprentice and their employers and advising on submission against the requirements of the End Point Assessments.

You will also actively contribute to the ongoing development of MK:U’s apprenticeship provision, working as a member of with our education team.

To be successful in this role you will have confident coaching skills and have the ability to communicate with a diverse range people at all levels. You will be well organised and able to work to tight, and often variable, deadlines. Importantly, you will be able to collaborate effectively, influence a network of stakeholders and build relationships across a diverse range of organisations quickly, and you will be eager to play a key role in the fast-moving and exciting MK:U project.

A good understanding of the higher education sector and the apprenticeship process will be important for this role as well as technical knowledge in a digital subject. Previous experience of work-based learning or apprenticeship programmes would be an advantage.
