We are looking to recruit an apprentice to work alongside experienced technicians and help support the operation of our research facilities.

Our Water Engineering technician works primarily in a specialist research facility for the development of water and wastewater treatment processes.  This is located on the university sewage treatment works at the edge of campus.  Significant investment in recent years means our facilities and the scope of research work has expanded.  As an Apprentice Water Engineering Technician, you will learn how to keep our various water supplies operational and contribute to the creation and operation of pilot-scale test rigs.

We are looking for a motivated individual with a practical aptitude, who want to learn while they work.  We will encourage and support you to become skilled at supporting specialist technical research and teaching, in a safe, high quality, highly productive working environment.

As part of our commitment to support and develop Technical staff across the University, we are a founding signatory of the Science Council's Technician Commitment. This is a sector wide, collaborative initiative led by the Science Council and supported by the 'Technicians Make It Happen' campaign, to ensure visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability for technicians working in higher education and research.
