About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the University of Oxford as an Apprentice Purchasing & Helpdesk Administrative Assistant in the Direct Labour Organisation, a section within Estates Services.

The DLO & Parks Admin team are responsible for carrying out all the admin tasks to ensure reactive repairs and planned maintenance work carried out by the DLO & Parks tradesman is supported. This includes purchasing and associated finance activities, managing the Estates Helpdesk as well as more general administration tasks. As an apprentice Purchasing & Helpdesk Administrative Assistant you will learn how to log, manage and respond to work requests via the Estates CAFM System Planon, and undertake purchasing process against those work requests. Your training will involve learning on the job by working alongside the Admin Team and the Business Administration and Customer Service Manager, as well as training from Abingdon & Witney College.

You will be part of a friendly, supportive and specialist team with a high level of customer focus, who take pride in the work they do.

The Admin team are based in the DLO offices in South Parks Road, as well as the Parks Tentorium off Parks Rd and you will spend time in both locations depending on training needs.

About the apprenticeship

As part of this role, you will undertake an Apprenticeship with Abingdon & Witney College, where you will complete a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship.

For this apprenticeship, you will work at the Estates Services, Direct Labour Organisation department in 1a South Parks Rd or at the Parks Tentorium off Parks Rd.  As part of your apprenticeship, you will be required to attend Abingdon & Witney College for 10 days over the course of the apprenticeship.

In total, it will take 18 months to complete all elements of the apprenticeship, with support from the Department, University, and College throughout.

About you

You will be passionate about starting your career in business administration and excited about the opportunity of becoming an apprentice at the University of Oxford. You may be starting your career or you may be looking for a career change.

To complete the level 3 apprenticeship you will need to evidence passes at 9-4 or A*-C in GCSE Maths and English. If you did not achieve these grades, do not let that put you off from applying as you can study Functional Skills as part of the apprenticeship giving you the equivalent qualifications needed. These qualifications are completed over 7 days. To help check that you have the potential to achieve these, Abingdon & Witney College will ask you to complete a short initial assessment during the application process.

There are also government residency requirements for Apprenticeship funding which the Training Provider will be able to advise on.
