The Apprenticeship Unit in UWTSD is a new and growing department within the university, based within the Wales Institute for Science and Art, but supporting in the region of 800 Higher and Degree Apprentices in disciplines across the university.

The role provides an excellent opportunity to join a team of highly motivated and dedicated people to support employers and their apprentices in agreed key sectors.

As an Apprentice Liaison Officer, you will recruit, mentor and develop Apprentices throughout their academic and work-based learning programmes. You will provide the link between employers, Apprentices and the UWTSD academic delivery team; provide pastoral and tutorial support to Apprentices; supervise and assess work-based projects, competency based portfolios and dissertations within an agreed key sector (Engineering, Applied Computing, Ordnance, Munitions and Explosives (OME) or Architecture & Design) for Higher and Degree Apprenticeships.

You should have excellent interpersonal skills, significant experience in engineering, architecture & design, OME or applied computing and be enthusiastic to join a proactive team.  You will be a good communicator, have excellent attention to detail and a broad range of digital skills.  You will also need to have experience of working on employer-responsive initiatives, work-based learning or Apprenticeship programmes and have a good knowledge of approaches to raise awareness/understanding of Apprenticeships.
