The NDM Grant Management Team are seeking to appoint an Apprentice Grants Assistant to provide support with the administration of research grants across the Department.

You will join the team, based at Old Road Campus, for 2 years enrolling in a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship, delivered by Abingdon & Witney College. College attendance and successful completion of these studies is an essential requirement of this Apprenticeship.

In this role, you will learn to provide high quality, professional project support, in a wide range of administration areas related to Research Grant Management and Finance.  This is a unique opportunity to understand the entire grant lifecycle at Oxford, enabling you to gain skills and experience both in the workplace, and through the completion of a course of study.

Your key responsibilities for this role are to develop an understanding of the basic principles of research grant management and how this interacts with accounting and financial management. You will gain experience in using the University’s costing tool (currently X5) to prepare accurate costings which comply with sponsor terms and conditions, as well as gaining experience in using Oracle Financials for post award management of research grants. You will also be tasked with preparing documentation for audits & maintaining up-to-date records, and taking minutes, ensuring any actions agreed are logged and taken forward.  This role will significantly develop your team-working skills, and your ability to manage a wide and varied set of tasks.

To complete the level 3 apprenticeship, you will need to evidence passes at 9-4 or A*-C in GCSE Maths and English. Please note that regardless of your prior qualifications, Abingdon and Witney College will ask you to complete a short initial assessment during the application process. There are also government residency requirements for Apprenticeship funding which the Training Provider will be able to advise on.
