We have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Administrative Assistant to join the friendly and vibrant Grant Management Team!
You will join the team, based at Old Road Campus, for 2 years enrolling in a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship, delivered by Abingdon & Witney College. College attendance and successful completion of these studies is an essential requirement of this Apprenticeship.
The overarching purpose of the role is to assist the Grant Management Team with their administrative tasks, to enable the smooth running of day to day operations, across a research grant portfolio of over 1,700 active research projects. This role will provide the opportunity for you to provide support to a wide range of services, including Research Grant Management, Finance, Human Resources, and Event Management. You will gain experience in dealing with staff at all levels including academics and researchers and staff across professional services.
You will learn the basic principles of grant and financial management; how these two areas intersect to facilitate our research and ensure we comply with funder terms and conditions. You will become proficient with incoming correspondence, processing and drafting responses where appropriate. The role of Apprentice Administrative Assistant will significantly develop your team-working skills, and your ability to manage a wide and varied set of tasks.
To complete the level 3 apprenticeship, you will need to evidence passes at 9-4 or A*-C in GCSE Maths and English. Please note that regardless of your prior qualifications, Abingdon and Witney College will ask you to complete a short initial assessment during the application process. There are also government residency requirements for Apprenticeship funding which the Training Provider will be able to advise on.
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online and you will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience.
This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract for 2 years and is funded by the Department.
Only applications received before 12 midday on 11 January 2024 will be considered. Please quote 168418 on all correspondence.
