This Role

Two new opportunities for well-motivated individuals to support and maintain our VLE and students administration systems have become available. You will need to be able to adapt to a constantly changing environment to support applications within the Student Systems team. The purpose of these roles is to support and maintain the Blackboard or Campus Solutions applications and their service functions for The University of Manchester.

The roles will involve working with various departments throughout the University including the eLearning teams, student support offices and the wider IT team including key stakeholders.

You should have excellent communication skills and be prepared to learn. Previous knowledge of teaching and learning applications such as Blackboard or student administration systems such as Campus Solutions would be beneficial but not essential. This role will support these applications in key activities for BAU, 3rd party vendor interactions, application upgrades and application configuration.

Specific Role Requirements

In addition to the Person Specification criteria detailed in the Further Particulars you must have:

A logical approach and good problem solving and analytical skills:
•Experience of working in a customer focused, service driven environment
•Be capable of operating within a team and independently as appropriate
•An understanding of application support
•Possess enthusiasm for continued learning and self-development
Desirable Knowledge / Experience:
•Knowledge and experience of relational databases and SQL queries
•Experience with supporting and configuring VLEs, e.g. Blackboard or student administration systems, e.g. Campus Solutions
•Experience of supporting other business applications
•Experience of using of service-desk ticket management systems for user support
•Knowledge of the working structures of the University and the interoperability of student systems in use
•Knowledge of software configuration and testing processes
