This new full-time post is available from 11 April 2022 on a fixed term basis until 10 April 2024, with the possibility of extension.

Summary of the role

You will support the research groups of Professor Gaspar Jekely and Dr Elizabeth Williams. Research focuses on marine invertebrate larval biology, development and ecology.

The successful candidate will work in the BioSciences and the Aquatic Resources Centre at the Streatham Campus of the University of Exeter. The successful applicant will work in the field of marine invertebrate biology and contribute to the maintenance of the marine aquatic cultures of the lab.

The post will include the feeding and maintenance of Platynereis worms and other marine invertebrates, cleaning of aquaria, preparation of seawater, spawning of animals, invertebrate larval culture, record keeping of crosses, maintenance of microalgae cultures, especially diatoms, and related maintenance tasks. You will work closely together with an experienced animal technician of the Marine Invertebrate Culture Unit.
