Salary: UH7 £37,099pa to £40,521pa with the potential to increase to £44,263pa by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience 

Annual Leave: 30 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year 

Location: Flexible, with minimum two days a week on campus in Hatfield, Hertfordshire

An exciting opportunity to join the University of Hertfordshire’s Alumni Relations Team to join them in growing and sustaining a community of engaged alumni to help the University achieve its objectives around student recruitment, employability, and fundraising.   

Main duties and responsibilities

The role of the Alumni Relations Officer is to support and deliver the University’s alumni relations strategy to support our employability, student recruitment and fundraising objectives. The role will involve assisting with project, programme, and events management, as well as content creation across different communication channels.

The Alumni Relations Officer will work on campaigns to keep our global alumni community connected to the University and with each other. The Alumni Relations Officer will promote the success of the University’s graduates, both internally and externally, and elevate the reputation of the University.

You will work with teams across the University, as well as within the Marketing and Communications department, to ensure the alumni are embedded in key activities.

Skills and experience required

A successful candidate will have proven substantial experience of alumni relations and/or communications/PR/marketing. Your communication skills, both verbal and written, should be excellent with the ability to build relationships with alumni and create content and narrative that tells our story effectively. This is a very busy and diverse role so the ability to work effectively on several tasks at one time is essential. Previous experience working in a Higher Education setting would also be desirable.

We are looking for an applicant who has the motivation to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues in the Marketing and Communications team and across the wider University. Key elements of the role involve excellent communication, interpersonal and social skills, underpinned with organisational, administrative and customer service skills. The ability to multi-task and prioritise your workload is essential, as well as the ability to use databases and appropriate IT skilfully.

Qualifications required

Minimum of an undergraduate degree or equivalent, or proven experience
