The Faculty wishes to appoint an Al-Qasimi Professor in Gulf Studies. Any area of the social science study of the Gulf and the Arabian Peninsula will be considered, including contemporary politics and society, anthropology, sociology, history, international relations of the Gulf, political economy, urban studies, and energy and environmental transition. We are also particularly committed to ensuring that our procedures reflect our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusivity.

The Professor will have an established international reputation in the field of Gulf Studies, a defined programme of research for their time as a member of the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies and will contribute to the activities of the Centre for Gulf Studies within the Institute. In REF2014 and REF2021 the Institute was the leading research unit in the study of Islam and the Middle East in the country.
