Are you looking for an opportunity to work at the forefront of agricultural engineering innovation? Harper Adams’ Engineering Department is expanding its Agri-tech team to meet increasing demand from industry for its services. We are seeking a mechatronics engineer with proven ability and industry experience to enhance our small team of near market agricultural engineers.

We work in the near market, collaborative and commercially led engineering project space. The Agri-tech team is typically involved in research, design, prototyping, testing and laboratory/ field demonstrations. We cover a diverse portfolio of projects, spanning the science to innovation spectrum from robotics, mechatronics, electric vehicles to data analytics, vision systems, and other AI applications. We are supported by a central business unit responsible for developing partnerships with external businesses and organisations as well as developing collaborative relationships with colleagues across the campus. 

Your responsibilities would include:

•    supporting team leaders to deliver project outputs

•    clearly identifying designs and methodologies with innovation potential

•    engineering design and development work

•    presenting your work to colleagues and external partners 

•    keeping daily records of your work

You will need to show that you have a keen interest in working at the forefront of Agri-tech innovation. You should have strong communication skills and be self-motivated to achieve a high standard of work. 

You must hold an honours level degree in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering, or related engineering field. At interview, you will need to evidence your ability to: apply engineering knowledge and skills to develop project outputs; problem solve; generate ideas; work independently as well as part of a team; have a working knowledge of engineering tools including software packages.
