The Opportunity:
We are seeking an Advanced Research Assistants (one permanent contract and one 3 year fixed term) to join the Haniffa Lab . You will perform laboratory work involved 1) in preparing human samples for single cell sequencing and spatial genomics 2) in setting up and running validating assays with tissue culture models (hiPSC differentiation and organoids) and histological methods.
Our Mission and Team:
We apply disruptive cutting-edge techniques and use advanced computing capabilities to study the genomics of immune cell populations at single-cell resolution to:
1) Decode the development and functional maturation of the immune system
2) Understand its influence on the developing and adult human body in healthy or pathological situations, with a particular focus on skin.
This research is part of the Human Cell Atlas initiative, which has been set out to create a comprehensive reference map of all human cells as the basis for understanding human health and diagnosing, monitoring and treating disease.
About the Role/You:
You will participate in exciting projects to spatially map the cellular environments of human tissues in health and disease and complement knowledge by validating hypothesis in vitro. Your primary role will be to perform daily laboratory work to 1) process human tissue for single cell sequencing, preservation and sectioning, 2) set up in vitro organoid models from processed samples and/or hiPSCs and 3) participate to the day-to-day management of the lab, including monitoring lab resources, reporting equipment/experiment faults, and assist in troubleshooting.
The role will require you to be adaptable and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to closely coordinate with the Senior Staff Scientist and Postdoctoral Fellows leading these projects. To reach the project targets established by lead scientists, you are expected to organise and carry out complex experimental work independently.
Please apply with your CV and a Cover letter outlining your suitability for the role addressing the criteria set out above and in the job description.
