About the Role

Following continued growth in recruitment and applications at Queen Mary University of London, due to exciting investment in the Admissions team, applications are invited for a full time permanent Admissions Assistant post. 

Admissions Assistants are members of our central Admissions team, which handles undergraduate, postgraduate taught and research applications to all the university’s Schools and Institutes. Our Admissions Assistants are assigned either to the Postgraduate or Undergraduate team but are expected to work flexibly across team boundaries to ensure that applicants receive a consistently good service during peak times. 

You will support Admissions Officers and Managers in providing a timely and professional admissions service. This will involve assessing applications and making decisions consistently and fairly against pre-defined entry criteria, carrying out a range of administrative tasks and responding to admissions-related enquiries, providing high levels of customer service to all stakeholders. 

About You

You will have recent experience of working in an administrative role in a busy customer-oriented environment, ideally in an education or public sector setting.  

You will be well-organised, able to prioritise, and capable of working quickly and accurately under pressure to meet deadlines, both independently and as part of a team. You will have excellent IT skills and experience of using complex databases, and good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and able to communicate effectively with applicants, advisers and staff at all levels within the University. You are capable of carrying out tasks and making decisions consistently within a clear policy and regulatory framework, referring more complex cases to Admissions Officers and Managers. 

About the Department

The Admissions Office sits within External Relations directorate and its primary focus is to recruit students with the qualifications and potential to succeed.  The Office handles around 110,000 applications per year to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Working together with colleagues in academic Schools and professional services, we aim to provide a high-quality user experience for applicants and staff who support the applicant journey.
