Job Description

UAEU International Student Recruitment Officers (ISRO) are responsible for the operationalization and implementation of our annual international recruitment plan. The plan identifies priority market segments, and the ISRO will be allocated responsibility for one or more of these segments. The ISRO is expected to develop and use customized recruitment strategies suited to the specific requirements of a segment and assess the Return on Investment (ROI) for each recruitment initiative. The international recruitment plan serves the UAEU’s enrollment management strategy. This strategy has the primary goal of recruiting high quality and diverse international students for all academic programs and all levels of study. The ISRO will be expected to deliver: i) Operational plan for recruitment in the priority market segment ii) Create and use programs, services, and tools customized to fit with the dynamics and characteristics of the market segment. iii) Robust and effective relationships and partnerships with foreign agents, institutions, organizations and sponsors, as appropriate to the market segment. In close collaboration with the Head of Recruitment and Exchange and other ISROs, an ISRO is responsible for proactively reaching out to prospective applicants, engaging and communicating about the value of UAEU education, and converting applications ready for handoff to admissions. The ISRO participates in international scholarship award decisions as a member of the International Student Scholarship Review Committee and works with the Admissions and Scholarships Unit to support efficiencies of international admission processes. The ISRO collaborates with Intensive English Language Instructional Services to recruit and transition conditionally admitted students to UAEU. Frequent participation in online and in-person recruitment events, transfer fairs, school visits, and other related activities is expected.

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in public or private international higher education administration
  • Evidence of progressive professional experience of international student recruitment functional area.
  • Progressive professional experience involving international travel and independent, self-starting project management.
  • Substantive professional experience developing and managing international higher education networks, partnerships and country-specific agencies and agents.
  • Preferred Qualification

  • Demonstrated experience in relationship building, report building / maintenance, and the use of data driven decision making for planning and strategy development.
  • Sensitivity to handle communications with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong ability to develop and sustain relationships across various internal and external constituencies engaged in international student enrollment management.
  • Relevant experience in the development, implementation and monitoring of a comprehensive plan for international student recruitment.
  • Relevant experience in administering sponsored student programs.
  • Familiar with enrollment management software (Banner, CRM, etc.)
  • Relevant experience in administering sponsored international student programs. Familiarity with a variety of English Language Proficiency Tests.
  • Knowledge and experience working with foreign credential evaluations. Existing relationships with governments, agents and consultants abroad.
  • Previous experience living or working abroad.
  • 10. Ability and willingness to engage with partners and prospective students remotely / online, travel domestically and internationally.
  • Strong computing skills and expertise utilizing computing applications and systems
  • Commitment to a student-centered / customer service-oriented philosophy.
  • Understanding of nuanced university and admission goals within the context of the university and unit-specific strategic plans.
  • Expected Skills/Rank/Experience

  • The candidate will have a keen general understanding of current global recruitment trends, international market characteristics, and emerging markets.
  • Demonstrated track-record of successful student recruitment and admissions. Applications that do not demonstrate substantive evidence against this criterion will not be considered.
  • Ideally the ISRO will have a detailed understanding of a specific geographical territory, and they might already have an established network of contacts and influencers in that territory, as well as the ability to speak languages of that area.
  • Professional experience that gives access to a network of contacts and influencers at individual, institutional, and area levels.
  • Familiarity and / or knowledge of online programs delivery and remote instruction is a plus.
