The School of Economics is looking to recruit a full-time Administrative Assistant to provide a professional, efficient and friendly service. You will form part of a happy, dynamic executive support team who work closely together to ensure key School activities are managed and delivered on time. You will provide general office and clerical support in the School of Economics, performing a clearly defined range of standard tasks within established routines and procedures.
The Administrative Assistant acts as the first point of contact for the majority of staff from across the University, external contacts and visitors. It is very important to ensure that those visiting the School are made to feel welcome and that their queries have been addressed to a high standard by exhibiting tact, discretion, maintaining confidentiality as required and demonstrating a steady hand regardless of the volume of work. Independence and initiative will be required to react to changing priorities and work circumstances, with scope to make decisions within very clear parameters. The role holder will organise their own day-to-day work to meet clear objectives providing an effective service to others
You should possess a high level of accuracy and flexibility, as well as excellent organisational and customer service skills, as these are all essential attributes for the role. You should be a good team player, and also have excellent communication skills as you will be dealing with a wide range of colleagues on a daily basis. In addition, you should be experienced in using a range of IT systems and be able to adapt to new systems and processes quickly.
