Administrative and Research Support Officer

Salary: £28,375 - £32,735 per annum
Nuffield College seeks to appoint an Administrative and Research Support Officer who will be a key member of the College’s Academic Office, and who will also support the activities of College-based research centres and projects.
The postholder is responsible for supporting the three subject group meetings within the College (Economics, Politics, and Sociology), including associated administration, as well as servicing other College committees. They also administer the process of appointing visiting students, academic visitors, and visiting research fellows, including making the relevant practical arrangements. The Administrative and Research Support Officer provides support to the College-based research centres and projects as required, including organising events and seminars, updating research centre websites and undertaking research dissemination and communication activities, and providing support for research funding administration. They also provide support to the College’s academic activities more generally as required.
Applicants should be educated to first-degree level or equivalent. They should have administrative experience, as a result of work or study, preferably within the Higher Education Sector. Excellent analytical skills and the ability to acquire institutional knowledge quickly are essential. Applicants should also possess excellent written communication and numeracy skills; organisational and IT skills; and an understanding of research support administration. The successful applicant will have strong interpersonal skills; a flexible and proactive approach to work; and a commitment to supporting and improving the academic administration functions of the College. Experience of research administration, financial management, servicing committees, planning and managing events, and/or updating and maintaining websites would be an advantage.
The post is intended to be a full-time position, but we will also consider applications from candidates who wish to hold the post on a part-time basis.
