Acquisitions Assistant (Books/Serials)

The role supports the Acquisitions Librarian in the acquisition and delivery of library collections and content to Kew staff and all library users. You will lead the day-to-day delivery of processes contributing to the provision of an efficient and effective acquisitions service.

You will be required to provide excellent customer service in the areas of book and serial processing and inter-library loans. You will take responsibility for processing all incoming material for Library & Archives, and for the ordering, receipt and accessioning of new books and serials, including dealing with payments, claims and problems. You will also assist with provision of wider services and collection management.

With experience working in a library or information environment, ideally in a research, special or academic library, our ideal candidate will have experience supporting acquisitions services (book purchasing, serials and/or inter-library loans). You must have experience using finance and/or library management systems and experience of clerical/administrative routines. To be successful in this role you will need good numeracy skills and an aptitude for figures, along with accuracy, attention to detail and a methodical approach.

The salary will be £26,100 - £28,543 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
