About this role

Accommodation Services provide a home to over 5789 students living within halls of residence. Our dedicated team of staff provide support and signposting on a wide variety of emotional and practical issues, from living with others, behaviour management, homesickness, general wellbeing, engagement with Student Life and connecting students to the services offered by the wider University.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Accommodation Marketing and Communications Intern, who will support new students by providing them with all the information they need to decide on their accommodation choices and enable a smooth transition from home to their new life at UWE. This journey begins when they apply for halls of residence, followed by the confirmation of accommodation and the welcome information they receive before they arrive. We are looking for someone who can develop content with a ‘student voice’. This will include contributing towards marketing materials, copywriting for internal and external publication in collaboration with other teams across the University.

We have recently opened Purdown View a new halls of residence development and you will assist with the production of new photographic, video, and social media content to showcase this new accommodation.

You will gain experience in providing face to face support and advice to students and their supporters, during Open Days and Move In Weekend, which will enable you to see impact of your pre-arrival communication.

About you

Applications are welcomed from students looking to gain administrative experience in a professional office environment.  We would like applicants to have a strong customer focused attitude, paying attention to detail with an enthusiastic commitment to ensure internal and external customers have a good experience.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, who can communicate clearly and efficiently to a diverse audience via a variety of different communication styles.

You will have good IT skills, with confidence working in Microsoft systems. Knowledge or experience in writing copy for business use or experience of digital or social media marketing would be desirable.
