Updated: about 1 month ago
Location: Bristol, ENGLAND
Job Type: FullTime

Bristol Medical School is seeking to appoint an IT and digital technologies expert to manage its Clinical Academies’ digital teaching capabilities and the innovative delivery of the undergraduate medical programme for our students whilst on clinical placement at our NHS teaching hospitals.

You will lead the development of the digital teaching capability and innovative digital infrastructure that links the university and 9 NHS Trust Academies so that students can access their curriculum and record evidence of learning medicine whilst on clinical placement at one of the teaching hospitals. Maintaining a high-quality student learning experience through understanding end user requirements is a key part of this role, as is enabling a range of staff including senior academics, education managers, clinical teachers and professional services staff to use a variety of digital tools and specialist applications.

A strong understanding of IT and networking will enable you to identify and troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate resolutions with IT teams from the NHS and University to ensure an effective response. You will be improving the digital resources in line with the evolving demands of the medical programme, enhancing our students' learning experience and sense of belonging within the medical school community. To achieve this, you will travel regularly to the Academies based at various Trusts located in the South West, from Gloucester down to Yeovil.

You will work alongside members of the Faculty of Health & Life Sciences Technology Enhanced Learning Team and the Medical Education team in a friendly and busy environment. You will be strengthening and developing networks with the other professional programmes and teams within the Faculty, wider university and at a national level to share knowledge and develop best practice.

We are seeking an experienced IT and digital solutions professional who will be able to flourish in a busy and challenging but very rewarding role. This role will offer a fantastic development opportunity bringing together strong IT and network knowledge with excellent communication skills. The medical programme is complex and is delivered across both the university and the NHS. There is a regular need to think innovatively, developing and sustaining the implementation of new digital technologies and applications into a changing environment. You will have a good eye for detail and strive to deliver excellence in every aspect of your work.
