The University of Huddersfield seeks to appoint enthusiastic and motivated individuals to the post of Academic Skills Tutor. We welcome applications from candidates in any academic or practice area particularly of Nursing and Midwifery. This post provides an excellent opportunity to work within a University and School with a well-established reputation for excellence in teaching and research and for the appointees to make a significant contribution to further enhancing our teaching and/or research in the area of Human and Health Sciences.

Your role will be to work within the Academic Skills Development Team (ASDT) offering support and encouragement to students to enable them to excel academically and improve grades. The team provides support and development at all levels on a range of topics, including:

  • General academic skills
  • Essay writing, time management, presentations and group work skills
  • Examination preparation
  • Information and communication technology
  • Literacy and numeracy
  • Personal development: confidence building and assertiveness
  • Research skills and support with the SPSS statistical analysis package

Applications from candidates with specific expertise and experience in supporting learners in a HE environment and teaching students with English as a second language will be particularly welcomed.
